Every free online utility on Tools Guru

Written and maintained by the Published Last reviewed How we test our tools

About the team: three front-end engineers and technical writers in Punjab, Pakistan, building browser-based software since 2011. Every formula and conversion on this site is implemented from a primary source and checked against an independent reference before publishing — see our editorial policy for how we test.

This is a collection of 106 small, single-purpose utilities that open instantly and each do one job well. There is no account to create, no upload step and no trial period. Open a page, type or drop in what you have, and the answer appears. Almost every calculation, conversion and file operation happens locally on your own device using standard browser APIs, which means the numbers you enter and the documents you open stay with you.

That local-first approach is the reason the site feels quick. A typical page here weighs less than a single photograph on most news sites, and once you have visited a tool it is cached for repeat visits, so it keeps working on a train or a plane with no connection at all. The handful that genuinely need a server — live currency rates, weather, address-free AI image generation and speech transcription — are labelled clearly so you always know when something leaves your device.

Calculators and everyday maths

The calculators cover the questions people actually search for rather than a generic scientific keypad: your exact age down to the day, body mass index against the World Health Organization categories, the number of working days between two dates, the cost of a trip given your mileage and fuel price, and a due-date estimate from a last menstrual period. Each one shows its working rather than just a number, because a figure you cannot check is a figure you cannot trust.

Finance, loans and budgeting

The finance group handles the arithmetic behind borrowing and saving. The EMI and mortgage calculators use the standard reducing-balance formula and show total interest alongside the monthly figure, which is usually the more revealing number: stretching a loan by three years can lower the payment and still cost far more overall. The compound interest and SIP calculators do the same in reverse for money you are putting away, and the GST, discount, salary and budget tools handle the smaller day-to-day sums.

Please note: the finance calculators are educational estimators. They do not account for processing fees, insurance bundling, prepayment penalties, local tax rules or the way a particular lender rounds interest. Always confirm figures with your bank or a licensed financial adviser before you commit to a product. See our full disclaimer.

Text, writing and documents

Writers and students get a live word counter with reading-time estimates, a case converter that understands camelCase and snake_case as well as sentence case, a word-level difference checker for comparing two drafts, a bulk find-and-replace, a URL slug builder and a placeholder paragraph generator for mockups. The resume maker sits here too: ten typographic templates, edited live, exported as a clean PDF or Word file with no watermark.

Images and photo editing

Image work is where staying on-device matters most, since photographs are personal. Compression, resizing, cropping, watermarking and format conversion all run through the browser canvas, so nothing is transmitted. The AI background remover can run either fully on your machine — the first use downloads the model once, then works offline forever — or through a hosted model when you want the sharpest possible cutout on a large file. There is also a passport photo cropper with correct 35×45 mm and 2×2 inch geometry at 300 DPI, a signature maker and a colour picker that samples straight from an image.

PDF utilities

Merging, splitting, converting images to PDF and pulling text back out of a PDF are the four operations most people need and the four that online converters most often ask you to upload for. Ours use pdf-lib and Mozilla's PDF.js inside the page, so a contract or a bank statement never leaves your laptop.

Developer utilities

A JSON formatter and validator, Base64 and URL encoders, a hash generator built on the native Web Crypto API, a live regex tester, a JWT decoder that only reads the header and payload, a Unix timestamp converter, a Markdown previewer and a CSV to JSON converter. These are the tabs that tend to stay open all day, which is why they load in well under a second and work without a network.

Converters

Units across length, weight, area, volume, speed and data; temperature across Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin; 160 world currencies against rates refreshed daily; numbers spelled out in words for cheques and invoices; Roman numerals; binary, hexadecimal and text; and Morse code with audible playback.

Generators

QR codes for links, plain text and WiFi credentials at print resolution; CODE128 and EAN barcodes; cryptographically random passwords with a real strength meter; RFC 4122 version 4 UUIDs; colour palettes; CSS gradients; favicons in every size including a genuine .ico; business cards, certificates, ID cards, letterheads and email signatures.

Everyday helpers

The remainder are the small things that save a search: a stopwatch and Pomodoro timer, an event countdown, an auto-saving notepad and to-do list, a typing speed test, flashcards, a grocery list, a recipe finder, a sleep-cycle calculator, a time zone converter, an internet speed test and a Zakat calculator with a live nisab check.

Frequently asked questions

Is Tools Guru really free? Yes. Every one of the 106 is free with no usage cap, no watermark and no account. The site is funded by unobtrusive display advertising, which is disclosed in our editorial policy.

Do my files get uploaded? For the overwhelming majority, no — the processing happens inside your browser tab. The few that need a server are marked with an "online" badge on their card. Details are in the privacy policy.

Does it work offline? Install Tools Guru from your browser's menu and it registers a service worker. Every tool that does not depend on live data will then open with no connection.

Who is behind it? A small independent team based in Punjab, Pakistan. You can read more about us or get in touch.
